SS 904L is an austenitic stainless steel known for its excellent resistance to corrosion, particularly in acidic environments. Its composition would roughly equate to 23-28% Cr, 19-23% Ni, 4-5% Mo, with additions of Cu and small amounts of other elements. Material tensile strength is in the vicinity of 520-720 MPa and yield in about the range of 240-310 MPa. SS 904L has good formability and weldability, with superior resistance to pitting, crevice, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in chloride-rich environments.
