Stainless Steel 440C flat bar is high-carbon, martensitic steel characterized by excellent hardness and resistance to wear. It contains almost 1.2% carbon, 16-18% chromium, manganese, silicon, and small amounts of nickel. Its heat treatment has resulted in high strength and hardness of the material. Tensile strength is reported to range between 850-1150 MPa, and yield strength as 550 MPa while hardness varies between 58-60 HRC. It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, especially in acidic environments, thus being ideal for applications in tooling, bearings, and high-wear components.
