Stainless steel 416 is a martensitic grade that possesses excellent mechanical properties along with moderate corrosion resistance. The composition of the alloy contains about 12-14% chromium, 0.15% carbon and 0.75-1.50% manganese, and traces of sulfur and phosphorus. This compound is known for high durability, making it suitable for complex applications. It is the mechanical properties that comprise of a tensile strength of 860 MPa, yield strength of 450 MPa, and hardness of 170 to 220 HB. The corrosion, oxidation and environmental resistance of Stainless Steel 416 are excellent but susceptible to deterioration.
