Invar 42, also referred to as UNS K94100, is an iron-nickel alloy that contains about 41–43% nickel, with the remainder being iron, along with small amounts of carbon, manganese, and silicon. It’s well-known for its remarkably low coefficient of thermal expansion. In terms of mechanical properties, Invar 42 boasts a tensile strength of around 450–700 MPa, a yield strength of about 275 MPa, and an elongation range of 30–45%, depending on its temper and treatment. This alloy maintains excellent dimensional stability over a wide temperature range, making it perfect for precision applications.

Yes, High-Speed Steel M42 can be welded, but it requires specialized techniques like preheating, post-weld heat treatment, and using appropriate filler materials to avoid cracking and maintain its properties.
Yes, High Speed Steel M42 bars are recyclable. They can be melted and reused in manufacturing, reducing waste and conserving resources, making them an environmentally friendly material choice.
High-Speed Steel M42 bars should be stored in a dry, cool environment, protected from moisture and corrosion. Ensure they are placed on clean, stable surfaces to prevent damage and maintain quality.
Invar 42 Bar and Rod are extensively utilized in industries where dimensional stability and minimal thermal expansion are essential. Typical applications include electronic components, telecommunications, aerospace instrumentation, precision measurement devices, and cryogenic engineering. The alloy’s stability across varying temperatures makes it ideal for lead frames, glass-to-metal seals, and shadow masks in CRTs. Additionally, it’s used in tooling for aerospace composite fabrication and high-precision instruments like gyroscopes and laser components. Invar 42 is particularly preferred in environments where thermal fluctuations could jeopardize structural integrity or precise alignments, ensuring long-lasting reliability and accuracy.
