Invar 42, also referred to as UNS K94100, is an iron-nickel alloy that contains about 41–43% nickel, with the remainder being iron, along with small amounts of carbon, manganese, and silicon. It’s well-known for its remarkably low coefficient of thermal expansion. In terms of mechanical properties, Invar 42 boasts a tensile strength of roughly 450–700 MPa, a yield strength of about 275 MPa, and an elongation range of 30–45%, depending on its temper and treatment. This alloy maintains excellent dimensional stability over a wide temperature range, making it perfect for precision applications.
