Aluminium 2024 bars and rods are comprised primarily of aluminum, with an aluminium content between 90.7-95.3% by weight and with key alloying elements in the form of copper (3.8-4.9%), manganese (1.2-1.8%), and magnesium (1.2-1.8%). It contains other elements at levels of less than 0.5%, namely silicon and iron. Its mechanical properties have enabled Aluminium 2024 to offer high strength, excellent fatigue resistance, and good machinability. The tensile strength is around 470 MPa, yield strength is about 324 MPa, and elongation is of 20%.
