Titanium hollow bars are produced from commercially pure grades such as Grade 2 or alloyed types such as Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V). These bars have a high strength-to-weight ratio, good resistance to corrosion, and superior fatigue life. Grade 2 is well ductile and weldable, whereas Grade 5 provides increased mechanical strength. Mechanical characteristics differ per grade with tensile strengths of 345 MPa to more than 950 MPa, and yield strengths of 275 MPa to 880 MPa. Elongation is usually up to 15%, providing formability without sacrificing structural integrity under load.
