Semih Metals is a well-established producer and exporter from Istanbul, Turkey, that deals in premium stainless steel 17-4PH forgings. Committed to precision and customer satisfaction, the company addresses a broad spectrum of industries with robust and long-lasting metal solutions. By adopting innovative production methods and rigorous quality checks, Semih Metals produces forgings that adhere to global standards and function admirably in challenging situations. Its geographical position in Istanbul allows effective local and worldwide distribution, making Semih Metals an reliable partner for customers who require excellence in stainless steel forging products.
Semih Metals supplies stainless steel 17-4PH forgings, which are martensitic precipitation-hardening steels that mainly contain iron with around 15-17.5% chromium, 3-5% nickel, 3-5% copper, and traces of manganese, silicon, and niobium. The alloy is characterized by high strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance. In the H900 heat-treated state, it can develop tensile strengths of up to 1310 MPa and yield strengths in the vicinity of 1170 MPa, with acceptable toughness and hardness to 44 HRC. The mechanical properties may be designed through a series of heat treatment, so it is extremely versatile for applications that need high strength and stress corrosion cracking resistance.

The ideal temperature range for forging Stainless Steel 17-4PH is 1850°F to 2050°F (1010°C to 1120°C). Post-forging, annealing or solution treating is necessary to achieve optimal properties.
Yes, Stainless Steel 17-4PH forgings can be forged into custom shapes. This alloy offers excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and machinability, making it suitable for precision custom forging applications.
The forging process for Stainless Steel 17-4PH typically takes several hours, including heating, shaping, and cooling. The exact duration depends on part size, complexity, and specific forging techniques used.
Stainless steel 17-4PH forgings are extensively employed in aerospace, marine, chemical, and petrochemical industries because of their corrosion resistance, high strength, and superior mechanical performance. In the aerospace industry, they are employed for turbine components, fasteners, and structural parts. The marine industry depends on them for pumps, shafts, and valve components that sustain extreme conditions. In the chemical industry, they resist corrosion and stress cracking, which makes them a good fit for heat exchangers and reactor vessels. They are also utilized in food processing equipment, paper mill machinery, and nuclear waste containment, where long-lasting performance is critical.
